Overview

Data protection law is becoming more prominent nowadays across sectors and industries. This workshop provides an overview of the provisions of the Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (PDPO) and the interactions between Hong Kong’s data protection law regime and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the PRC’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL). The workshop will also cover specific practice topics, e.g. data breach incident response planning, data risk impact assessment, data access request, drafting of privacy policy and the new anti-doxxing provisions under the PDPO (Amendment) Ordinance 2021. Furthermore, the workshop will also examine the practical issues relating to data protection in specific sectors, e.g. finance, banking, employment agency, hospitality and property management etc.
