HKMA Arrangements during Adverse Weather and/or Extreme Conditions - Degree Programmes

Adverse Weather Arrangements - DPOL

Class arrangements as announced by the Education Bureau due to adverse weather conditions DO NOT apply to HKMA programmes / courses. Under adverse weather conditions announced by The Hong Kong Observatory and/or extreme conditions announced by the Government, the following HKMA arrangements shall prevail:

(I)Classes / Study Group Meetings / Examinations in Online Mode:

For classes / study group meetings / examinations which are conducted in online mode, all sessions will be held as scheduled via the original online format / platform.

(II)Face-to-face Classes / Study Group Meetings / Examinations:

(A)Before Session Commencement:

Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above / Extreme Conditions		Classes / Study Group Meetings
(i) When Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above / Extreme Conditions is in force / likely to be ISSUED	1. At or after 7:00 am	Morning sessions of classes / study group meetings that are held between 8:30am and 1:59pm will be cancelled¹ / changed to online².	Examinations that are held between 8:30am and 1:59pm will be cancelled¹.
	2.At or after 12:00 noon	Afternoon sessions of classes / study group meetings that are held between 2:00pm and 5:59pm will be cancelled¹ / changed to online².	Examinations that are held between 2:00pm and 5:59pm will be cancelled¹.
	3.At or after 4:00 pm	Evening sessions of classes / study group meetings that are held after 6:00 pm will be cancelled¹ / changed to online².	Examinations that are held after 6:00pm will be cancelled¹.
(ii) When Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above / Black Rainstorm Warning / Extreme Conditions is LOWERED	1. At or before 7:00 am	All classes / study group meetings / examinations will be held as scheduled.
	2. At or before 12:00 noon	Afternoon sessions of classes / study group meetings / examinations from 2:00pm or thereafter will be held as scheduled.
	3. At or before 4:00 pm	Evening sessions of classes / study group meetings / examinations from 6:00pm or thereafter will be held as scheduled.
Black Rainstorm Warning		Actions to be Taken
When Black Rainstorm Warning is in force	2 hours before scheduled class / study group meeting / examination time	All classes / study group meetings / examinations will be cancelled¹.

(B) Sessions that have already started:

Adverse Weather / Extreme Conditions	Action to be Taken
(i) When Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above / Extreme Conditions is in force.	All classes / study group meetings / examinations already in progress will be dismissed immediately¹.
(ii) When Black Rainstorm Warning is in force	All classes / study group meetings / examinations will continue as scheduled.

Arrangements for make-up classes / examinations will be announced shortly.
The Programme Secretariat will inform students of the online class / study group meeting details via email.
