Dr YK Pang elected Chairman of The Hong Kong Management Association

The Hong Kong Management Association held its 60th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 8 July 2021. Mr Helmuth Hennig, Chairman of the Association reported that 2020 had been another challenging yet fruitful year to take pride of, especially for the progress made in spreading the Association’s footprints over different aspects of management and education services.

Mr Hennig announced that he would step down from the Chairmanship and paid tributes to his predecessors, the two Deputy Chairmen as well as all members of the Council, Committees, Advisory Boards and Specialist Clubs. “It has indeed been a great honour to serve the Association in this position, especially during the milestone year of the Diamond Jubilee of the HKMA.” he said.

The eight following Council Members were re-elected at the Annual General Meeting:

  • Mr Giovanni Angelini, Chairman, Angelini Hospitality
  • Prof Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges GBS JP, Chief Executive Officer, The Hong Kong Jockey Club
  • Dr Allen Fung, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Non-property Portfolio Businesses, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd
  • Mr H L Kam, Group Managing Director, CK Infrastructure Holdings Ltd
  • Ir Alkin Kwong JP, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive, Hong Yip Holdings Ltd
  • Dr Delman Lee, Vice Chair, TAL Apparel Ltd
  • Mr Lincoln Leong, Director, Lincoln Leong Continuation Ltd
  • Dr the Hon Allan Zeman, Chairman, Lan Kwai Fong Holdings Ltd

At the Council Meeting held immediately after the Annual General Meeting, Dr Y K Pang GBS JP, Deputy Managing Director, Jardine Matheson Limited was elected Chairman of the Association. Mr S K Cheong, Executive Director, PuraPharm and Prof Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges GBS JP, Chief Executive Officer, The Hong Kong Jockey Club were re-elected and newly-elected as Deputy Chairmen respectively. Mr Helmuth Hennig was admitted as Honorary President of the Association.



Introduction on Dr Y K Pang
Dr Y.K. Pang, GBS, JP is the Deputy Managing Director of Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited, Chairman of Hong Kong and Chairman of Jardine Pacific. In addition, Dr Pang plays an active role in the business community and in public service in Hong Kong. Currently, he is Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service, Chairman of the Government Advisory Committee on Gifted Education, Past Chairman and a member of the Council and General Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and of the Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong.

Dr Pang was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star and Silver Bauhinia Star medals by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2016 and 2008 respectively for his long and distinguished public service.

Dr Pang first became involved in the work of the Association in 2013 as a member of the Council. He has been an Executive Committee member since 2015 and Deputy Chairman since 2018. Since 2019, he has also been leading the Corporate Development Sub-committee in formulating the strategic direction of the HKMA.

Dr Pang has given the HKMA his full support in different capacities, including Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the HKMA Quality Award (Since 2017) as well as a member of the award’s Panel of Judges (since 2018). He also chaired the Association’s Human Resources Sub-committee from 2016 to 2019.
