The Hong Kong Management Association has proudly launched the inaugural HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Award today (3 August) at its Kick-off Ceremony cum Briefing Session held at 3/F, Tower 2, South Seas Centre, 75 Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, KOWLOON.
Officiated by The Hon Prof SUN Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government; Mr S K Cheong, Deputy Chairman of the Association; Ir Sunny Lee BBS JP, Chairman, Organizing Committee of the HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Award; Mr Kent Wong, Advisory Board Chairman, HKMA Academy for Innovation and Management; HKMA’s Council Members: Dr the Hon Allan Zeman GBM GBS JP (Chairman, Lan Kwai Fong Holdings Ltd) and Mr Michael Leung (Executive Chairman, Peoples Smart Living Limited) as well as Ms Titania Woo, Executive Director of the Association; the event attracted over 240 online and offline guests and members to attend.
At the event, Mr Cheong said, “We humbly hope that the launch of this inaugural HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Award will contribute in its own way towards the National 14th Five-Year Plan to develop Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub, and we also hope that it is fitting to launch this on the momentous occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative region.”
“Innovation doesn’t have to be expensive – sometimes it doesn’t even require advanced technology,” expressed Ir Sunny Lee, Chairman, Organizing Committee of the HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Award at the ceremony. “We welcome the participation of innovative initiatives or projects from any organizations, regardless of its nature, size, industry or geographical location. They could be multinational companies or SMEs, private or public companies, professional associations or NGOs. We especially encourage the participation of Government Bureaux and Departments as they are the key drivers to inspire many organizations to start their own innovation journey.” Ir Lee added.
This award is the brain child of numerous visionary leaders and industry experts, and the result of years of hard work and planning. Under the visionary leadership of Ir Sunny Lee, the Organizing Committee and the Panel of Judges of the HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Award have formed a powerful network of over 30 innovative corporations, incubators, VC, accelerators, unicorns and consultancy firms, and have created an exceptionally strong foundation for the Award to move forward.
The Award Briefing Session was held right after the Kick-off Ceremony. Ir Sunny Lee together with members of the Award Organizing Committee including Mr Herbert Chia, Venture Partner, Sequoia Capital; Mr Jaff Lau, MD, Head of Strategy and Innovation, Business Banking, Commercial Banking, HSBC; and Mr Peter Yan, Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong Cyberport Management Co Ltd; introduced the Awards in full details to over 240 online and offline audience.
The deadline of Submission of Entry Form will be Thursday, 1 December 2022.
