2023 HKMA Quality Award Presentation Ceremony Ms Ada Chung, Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Serves as Guest of Honour

Introduced by The Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) in 1991, the HKMA annual Quality Award aims to give recognition to companies in Hong Kong which have made a lasting commitment to quality management and also to provide an opportunity for companies to share with one another their best practices. Ms Ada Chung, Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data served as the Guest of Honour of the occasion and delivered a keynote speech on topic “Succeeding in the Data-Driven World: How Good Data Governance Boosts Quality management” at the Award Presentation Ceremony held on Friday, 13 October 2023 at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.

The results of the 2023 HKMA Quality Award were announced by Dr Jacob Kam, Chairman of the Award Organizing Committee and Executive Committee and Council Member of HKMA. This year, a total of three companies were recognized according to a comprehensive set of judging criteria developed based on the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence Framework, which covers seven aspects, including Leadership; Strategy; Customers; Measurement, Analysis and Knowledge Management; Workforce; Operations; and Results. The Awards were presented by Mr S K Cheong, Prof Mary Huen, Ms Ada Chung and Dr Y K Pang respectively.

Dr Y K Pang said: “The HKMA Quality Award was launched in 1991 to bring recognition to organizations that have achieved outstanding standards of quality management. Through the programme, we not only provide companies with a comprehensive framework for evaluating their progress on the quality journey, but also celebrate the achievements of organizations that have excelled at putting quality management into practice.”

Bupa International Limited and Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd won the Grand Award. Dr Kam highlighted that “Our winners have showcased that Hong Kong has much to be proud of, and much to offer in quality management, creativity, and innovation. As these remarkable organisations navigate forward, their innovative spirit and sustained commitment to quality will continue to set benchmarks and inspire us all with their excellent examples.”

Going forward, the Award will continue to promote best practices in Total Quality Management as well as experience sharing among different companies.
