The Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) is pleased to announce the successful Kick-off of the highly anticipated second edition of the HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Award 2024. The Kick-off Ceremony marks the beginning of an exciting journey that celebrates and recognizes innovative initiatives from Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas with outstanding achievements in five key innovation areas: Product & Service Innovation, Process Innovation, Business Model Innovation, Platform Innovation and Social Impact Innovation.

The Association is honored to have Ms CHEONG Man Lei, Lillian, JP, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government as the Guest of Honour, to officiate the Kick-off Ceremony cum Award Briefing and Networking Session together with Dr Y K Pang GBS JP, Chairman of the Association; Ir Sunny Lee BBS JP, Chairman of the Award Organizing Committee; Mr Steve Ng, Commercial Group Managing Director, HKT and Award Title Sponsor; Ms Titania Woo, Executive Director of the Association as well as HKMA Council Members. The event gathers Award Organizing Committee Members and Panel of Judges, investors, innovators, incubators, business leaders, as well as representatives of Consulates General of various countries and innovative corporations. The event attracted over 200 online and offline guests and members to attend.

“To support the National 14th Five-Year Plan to develop Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub, The Hong Kong Management Association proudly launched the inaugural HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Award in 2022/23 and the HKMA Global Innovation Day in June 2023 with resounding success,” said Dr Y K Pang GBS JP, Chairman of HKMA. “HKMA is a pioneer in the advancement of Management Excellence in Hong Kong and the Region and has long recognized the importance of Innovation as a key factor underpinning business and organizational success.”

In his Opening Address, Ir Sunny Lee BBS JP, Award Organizing Committee Chairman said, “The inaugural 2022/23 Award has garnered tremendous interest and participation. We have successfully attracted over 230 entries, including non-local entries from Mainland China, Israel, Italy, Singapore, Spain and the United States, spanning a diverse range of industries, including multinational corporations, SMEs, start-ups, NGOs, and government departments. The HKMA Global Innovation Day, which featured 30 Innovative Presentations, an Innovation Summit with 14 renowned speakers, an Exhibition Zone of 41 exhibitors, a Networking Luncheon, as well as the Award Presentation Ceremony and Celebration Party, attracted 1,400 executives and such remarkable level of enthusiastic engagement is truly a testament to our city’s great reputation as a hub for innovation and technology.”

The Award Briefing and Networking Session was held right after the Kick-off Ceremony, featuring a Keynote speech by Mr Jack Zhou, Staff Algorithm Engineer from Alibaba DAMO Academy for Discovery, Adventure, Momentum and Outlook, who shared with guests his insights on the opportunities and applications of AI in the intelligent conversation systems, recommendation systems, and search systems of AliME and Tmall Genies.

Ir Sunny Lee together with members of the Award Organizing Committee including Prof Viveca Chan, Chairman & CEO, WE Marketing Group, and Mr Arnold Leung, Chief Executive Officer, 2 Appnovation, introduced the Awards in full details followed by a sharing from representatives of Immigration Department of the HKSAR and Airport Authority Hong Kong, the HKT Innovation Champion of the Year (Large Organizations) in 2023.
