The Hong Kong Management Association held its 63rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, 5 July 2024.
Dr Y K Pang GBS JP announced that he would step down from the Chairmanship of The Hong Kong Management Association and paid tributes to his predecessors, the two Deputy Chairmen as well as all members of the Council, Committees, Advisory Boards and Specialist Clubs. “It has indeed been a great honour to serve the Association as Chairman, especially during these challenging but rewarding years.” he said. He reported that it had been another challenging yet fruitful year to take pride of for the progress made in spreading the Association`s footprints over different aspects of management and education services.
The following nine Council Members were re-elected at the Annual General Meeting:
- Mr Giovanni Angelini, Chairman, Angelini Hospitality
- Prof Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges GBS JP, Chief Executive Officer, The Hong Kong Jockey Club
- Mr S K Cheong, Chairman, HK Television Entertainment Co Ltd and Chairman, Hong Kong Economic Journal Co Ltd
- Dr Roy Chung GBS JP, Founder and Chairman, Bright Future Charitable Foundation
- Prof Allen Fung, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Non-property Portfolio Businesses, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd
- Mr H L Kam, Group Managing Director, CK Infrastructure Holdings Ltd
- Dr Delman Lee, Vice Chair, TAL Apparel Ltd
- Mr Lincoln Leong, Director, Lincoln Leong Continuation Ltd
- Dr the Hon Allan Zeman GBM GBS JP, Chairman, Lan Kwai Fong Holdings Ltd
At the Council Meeting held immediately after the Annual General Meeting, Prof Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges GBS JP, Chief Executive Officer, The Hong Kong Jockey Club was elected Chairman of the Association. Mr S K Cheong, Vice Chairman, Hong Kong Television Entertainment Co Ltd and Chairman, Hong Kong Economic Journal Co Ltd was re-elected as Deputy Chairman while Mr T K Chiang, Chief Executive Officer, CLP Holdings Ltd and Prof Randy Lai, CEO, McDonald’s Restaurants (HK) Ltd were newly-elected as Deputy Chairmen. Dr Y K Pang, Chairman of Hong Kong, Jardine Matheson Ltd was admitted as Honorary President of the Association.
Prof Engelbrecht-Bresges first involved in the work of the Association in 2014 as Chairman of the Annual Conference Organizing Committee. Since 2015, he became a member of the Council. He has been an Executive Committee member since 2017 and Deputy Chairman since 2021. He has given the HKMA his full support in different capacities, including chairing of the Human Resources Sub-committee (2019-2021) and the Corporate Development Sub-committee since 2021. In recognition of his distinguished career and contribution to his industry, he was appointed Professor of Practice by the Institute of Advanced Management Development (AMD) of the Association in 2019.
