The Hong Kong Management Association 65th Annual Fellowship Dinner cum 2025 Hong Kong Sustainability Award Presentation Ceremony was held successfully at the Hopewell Hotel on Monday, 17 November 2025. The Hon John Lee-Ka Chiu GBM SBS PDSM PMSM, Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was the Guest of Honour at the HKMA Annual Fellowship Dinner.
In his welcoming address, Prof Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges GBS JP, Chairman of The Hong Kong Management Association, stated that the HKMA has been a cornerstone of the business community in Hong Kong and the region since its founding in 1960. He noted that throughout this time, the Association has played a crucial role in supporting the Government in driving Hong Kong’s economic growth and development by raising management standards across the territory.
He reflected that from the 1970s to the 2000s, the HKMA supported Hong Kong’s transition to a knowledge economy by enhancing the skills and knowledge of executives through a wide range of management programmes. At a time when only two universities existed in Hong Kong, he highlighted that the HKMA was the first organization to offer comprehensive Diploma programmes in Management Studies and Business Management, having trained close to 28,000 managers to date. He also mentioned that the Association was a pioneer in bringing high-quality overseas degree programmes to Hong Kong, which enabled local executives to upgrade their qualifications while continuing their careers.
He further reported that in recent years, aligning with the Government’s initiatives to develop Hong Kong into a global green finance centre, the HKMA launched the HKMA Sustainability Award in 2016, followed by the establishment of the Global Centre for ESG Management in 2021 and a series of sustainability and ESG programmes that have trained over 8,500 executives. To support the vision of Hong Kong as an international innovation and technology hub, he mentioned the establishment of the Global Centre for Innovation Management in 2018 and the launch of the HKMA/HKT Global Innovation Award in 2022, alongside the introduction of various programmes in big data, innovation, and AI to prepare executives for a new era. In response to the Government’s call to cultivate a high-caliber talent hub, he noted the formation of a strategic partnership with the Hong Kong Quality and Talent Migrants Association and the launch of the Hong Kong International Talents Career Expo series this year, an initiative that has showcased thousands of job opportunities, attracting over 24,000 new talents and facilitating their integration into the work and life of Hong Kong.
During the occasion, Prof Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges GBS JP encouraged everyone to fulfill their civic duty by voting in the upcoming Legislative Council elections on 7th December.
Prof Randy Lai, Chairperson of the HKMA 65th Anniversary Celebration Organizing Committee and Deputy Chairperson of The Hong Kong Management Association, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. She expressed that the Association had organized impactful initiatives to commemorate its Sapphire Jubilee. These included the HKMA 65th Anniversary Connect, Appreciate and Race Day; the inspiring Theme Year Summit on “Excellence · Innovation · Growth,” which highlights 12 proud stories of Hong Kong; a business leaders video series, designed to prepare youth for the future; and the 65th Anniversary Talent Development Fund, which allocates HK$1 million to support 100 executives in their pursuit of knowledge and skills. She stated that all these initiatives showcase the Association’s commitment to advancing excellence and nurturing Hong Kong’s future leaders.
In reflection on the HKMA’s sixty-five-year journey, Ms Titania Woo, Executive Director of The Hong Kong Management Association, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Prof Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges GBS JP, Chairman of The Hong Kong Management Association, Prof Randy Lai, Mr S K Cheong and Mr T K Chiang, Deputy Chairpersons of The Hong Kong Management Association, all Honorary Presidents, Council Members, Sponsors, Committee Members, and participants for their dedicated support. She reaffirmed that over the past sixty-five years, the HKMA has been committed to being the leading professional organization advancing management excellence in Hong Kong and the Region. To promote best practices in management, she highlighted that the Association organizes nine business awards each year, recognized as the highest accolades of the business community.
