Overview
This programme will highlight the key elements of board governance, board leadership, and board management for a legal-and-compliance-driven organization. The ultimate goal of good governance is to ensure the effectiveness, credibility and viability of the organization. As directed by the governing body, the medical and clinical management teams are responsible for designing and implementing the systems and processes from identifying and managing risk, to managing incidents and complaints, and to ensuring patients’ rights and engagement. It also covers the identification of risk and its implementation of strategies that the medical and healthcare organizations may encounter.
Objectives

Dr. Abril Choy, JSD, FHKIoD, MAICD
Dr. Choy is one of the few people in Hong Kong and Australia with management, finance and legal background serving different types of organizations ranging from performance-driven and customer-driven enterprises, to financial institutions, to tertiary education, to NGOs as well as HKSAR Government Boards and Committees. She is a specialist and professional adviser in legal regulation, strategic planning and finance.
After returning from Australia since 1997, Dr. Choy has served various Hong Kong’s Government Board and Committees. Among her appointed positions, she has reviewed, commented and adjudicated numerous cases from telecommunication licensing, compliant and codes of practice, medical regulation, inspection committee, appeal board, financial institutions resolution compensation tribunal, professional ethics of accountant, law enforcement, and social insurance to name a few. Currently, she has been appointed as Council Member, Council on Human Reproductive Technology, HKSAR Government.
Apart from being a senior management professional in the financial institutions and NGOs as well as the appointed positions for HKSAR Government, Dr. Choy has dedicated herself to the tertiary education as a Lecturer of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and University of Hong Kong since 2007. She published different books of finance and education. Concurrently, she also facilitates the directors’ training and executive education programs for different leading professional and financial institutions in Hong Kong. Since 2016, Dr. Choy has been appointed as an Honorary Legal Adviser of the Hong Kong Logistics Association.
Dr. Choy received her academic and professional education from Hong Kong, Australia, and China. She was awarded Doctor of Juridical Science (JSD) by the City University of Hong Kong with good honor. She also acquired her master degrees in the area of PRC Law from Renmin University of China, Global Business from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, International Communication from Macquarie University, Australia and her bachelor honours degree of Business Administration from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She further enriched herself in Oxford Blockchain, MIT Machine Learning and Kellogg’s Digital Marketing Strategies (UNW) recently.

A participant who has maintained a minimum of 70% attendance of total lecture hours will be awarded an “Executive Diploma in Governance for Medical and Para-medical Professionals”.
