Wrexham University (WU)

Wrexham University was created out of the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI). It can trace its origins back to 1887 with the formation of the Wrexham School of Science and Art. In 2004, NEWI became a full member of the University of Wales. In 2008, NEWI gained university status and Glyndŵr University was born. In 2023, it renamed to Wrexham University. According to The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025, Wrexham University ranked top 5 in the UK for Teaching Quality.

The BA(Hons) Accounting and Finance Management programme has been accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Graduates will be eligible for exemption from eight ACCA papers.*, which brings students closer to the status of a professional accountant*.

* The exemption granted is subject to the decision of Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) on individual basis, based on the academic achievements of individual student.

International Recognition

The award will be given by Wrexham University, which carries equivalent academic status and recognition to the same qualification conferred by the University in the UK.


Admission

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to Year One of the programmes, applicants should normally hold one of the following:

  • HKDSE average Level 3 or above in 3 subjects with minimum level 2 in Mathematics; or
  • HKALE average grade D or above in 3 subjects; or
  • Completion of the HKMA Diploma in Business; or
  • Completion of non-business associate degree; or
  • Other qualifications deemed equivalent by the University
  • English Requirements

    To be admitted to programmes delivered in English, applicants should normally hold one of the following:

    • HKDSE English Language with level 3 or above; or
    • HKCEE English Language with Grade C/ level 3 or above; or
    • HKALE / HKAS Use of English with Grade C or above; or
    • IELTS 6.0 or above with no component below 5.5; or
    • Students who have obtained their previous qualification entirely through the medium of English

    Applicants who cannot fulfil any one of the above English requirements can choose to study the degree programmes in Chinese.
