Overview
The objective of this programme is to provide students with an introduction to company law in Hong Kong. This programme is intended to provide a general purpose explanation and covers principles and practices for company secretaries and those in support of this aspect of company management.
The intention is to provide students with update and uncomplicated approaches to company law in Hong Kong, from inception to winding up, involving mainly the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) (“CO”) and the Companies (Winding Up and Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance (Cap. 32). It is advised that students should always refer to the most recent edition of these two ordinances in conjunction with the lecture notes and handouts.
There are many statutory organizations involving in the transformation of company laws in Hong Kong, including, but not limited to, the Companies Registry, the Financial Services and Treasury Bureau, the Security and Futures Commission, the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Company, and the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform. Students should be aware of their directives and public announcements regularly.
Studying company law always involve the understanding and development in cases, not only in Hong Kong but other common law jurisdictions.

This course is suitable for administrative and company secretaries who wish to acquire a working knowledge of secretarial practice for practical use and for students taking professional examinations.
LECTURER
Mr. Peter Mok is a Barrister-at-Law, prior to his admission he had been an Executive Director of a Public Listed Company in Hong Kong responsible for corporate Public Relations and Development, one of the subsidiaries of the above company is a franchised public bus operator. He is also a director of a charitable organization catering for the welfare of the mentally handicapped and ex-mentally ill. In addition, he is a Member of the Public Relations Professionals Association, the Chartered Management Association, the Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport, the Canadian International Council and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (London). Since 1983, he has been working closely with the Association in the development and teaching of various certificate programmes and in house training programmes, covering a diversified range of subjects, including event and function management; public relations, public relations writing, marketing management and general management courses. He is most willing to share his very valuable experience with the participants so that they may come up with practical solutions for actual daily work problems.
