PCLL Conversion Examinations Preparatory Course (PPC)

Overview

The PPC is designed to prepare students or graduates of LLB (Hons), Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), MA Law or the Common Professional Examination (CPE) to undertake the necessary PCLL Conversion examinations for admissions into the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) in Hong Kong.

The programme is designed with two objectives in mind: to provide candidates with all the content and knowledge for the exam (including comprehensive manuals for each subject) and to focus on writing skills and exam techniques in a series of intensive seminars taking place right before the PCLL Conversion examinations.

The University of Law is the course operator of the Hong Kong programmes, while The Hong Kong Management Association provides teaching venues and administrative support.

Duration

8 – 10 weeks
20 hours of lectures and face-to-face time per module to practice, evaluate, and assess your writing and your exam skills
(10 hours for Commercial Law Part C)

Admissions

Application Period

The programme commences in March/April and October each year.

Note: For April 2024 intake, some modules will start at the end of March due to the Easter public holidays.

Entry Requirements

No set entry requirement. However, prospective students may fall into one of the following categories:

  1. Students who have successfully completed a non-local law degree that meets the requirements for PCLL admission.
  2. Students who are currently pursuing a non-local law degree or law conversion programme (e.g. PGDL) that meets the requirements for PCLL admission.

Please note that the completion of our PPC or PPC modules does not guarantee automatic admission into the PCLL programme. The final decision regarding admission to the PCLL is subject to the discretion of the PCLL providers. It is the candidates’ responsibility to directly contact the PCEA in order to schedule your PCLL Conversion Examination(s) or make any exemption application related to the PCLL Conversion Examination(s).
