Overview

The program is designed to provide students with a hands-on introduction to aviation, career pathways as a cadet pilot, and the skills required in aviation training. It aims to inspire young individuals to pursue a career in aviation through engaging workshops,lectures, and simulated flying experiences.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAMME, YOU WILL:

  • Understand the pathway to becoming a cadet pilot, including academic and practical requirements.
  • Gain basic knowledge of aerodynamics, navigation, and flight planning.
  • Develop skills for pilot selection interviews and aptitude tests.
  • Experience hands-on flight simulation.
  • Be inspired to pursue aviation as a career.

Day 1: Introduction to Aviation Industry and the Cadet Pilot PathwayPilot Pathway

  • Overview of the aviation industry and its growth potential
  • Roles and responsibilities of a cadet pilot
  • Career pathways to becoming a pilot in Hong Kong and abroad (e.g., Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Program)
  • Discussion of international study and training opportunities

Day 2: Academic Preparation and Aptitude Tests

  • Preparing for pilot aptitude tests (math, physics, and critical thinking)
  • Insights into interviews and selection processes for cadet programs
  • Understanding the required physical fitness and medical certifications

Day 3: Flight Simulation and Basic Aerodynamics

  • Introduction to flight controls and instruments (hands-on simulator session)
  • Understanding the principles of flight and aerodynamics
  • Emergency procedures: managing critical situations during flight

Day 4: Site Visit Civil Aviation Department

  • The history and latest aviation development in Hong Kong
  • Roles and responsibilities of the Civil Aviation Department
  • How safety and operational efficiency is achieved in aviation
  • The worldwide air transport network
  • Importance of global cooperation in aviation

Day 5: Navigation and Problem-Solving

  • General Aviation in HK and the future of low altitude economy
  • Basics of flight planning and navigation with the latest EFB technology (ForeFlight by Boeing)
  • Team project: design a short flight route (to be tested in a simulator)
  • Certificate presentation and summary of the program
