To be a Lawyer" Taster Programme for Law Study "

This programme will give you a glimpse of what it’s like to be a lawyer. You will have a chance to talk to legal professionals and professors and find out about related careers.

Upon completion of the programme, you will:

• Understand routes to become Lawyers in HK, England and Wales, and the US
• Understand career opportunities in the law industry
• Understand the role and responsibilities of a barrister/ solicitor

Day 1: Introduction Session

• Welcome Talk
• Introduction to the Legal System – HK, England and Wales
• Courts Structure

Day 2: Lecture & Optional Activity

• Introduction to different types of Law – International, EU, Human Rights
• Routes to practice in HK, England and Wales, and the US
• Talk from Pantheon Chambers – A day in the life of barrister/ solicitor (Optional Activity)

Day 3: Lecture

• Introduction to Medical Law

Day 4: Lecture & Optional Activity

• Introduction to Criminal Law/Criminology
• Introduction to mooting
• Excursion to Justice Centre (Optional Activity)

Day 5: Lecture

• Introduction to Sports Law
• Celebrities versus the Media
• Certificate Ceremony
