Overview
This programme will give you a glimpse of what it’s like to be a psychologist. You will have a chance to talk to psychologists and find out about related careers.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the programme, you will understand:

- the role of psychologist among clinical, educational, occupational, sports and forensic areas.
- careers opportunities in psychology
Topics
Day 1: Clinical Psychology
- Introduction to clinical psychology
- Difference between psychologist and psychiatrist
- Treatments for common mental disorders
- Clinical techniques for preventing mental disorder
- Conducting research for therapies towards certain mental disorders
- Career prospect: clinical psychologist (providing treatment), researcher, university or college lecturer
- Pathway to become a clinical psychologist
Day 2: Educational Psychology
- Introduction to educational psychology
- Exploring the most suitable teaching methods for students
- Cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and social influences on the learning process.
- Career prospect: educational psychologist (focusing on children’s learning and development, providing psychological and educational assessment)
- Pathway of becoming an educational psychologist
Day 3: Occupational Psychology
- Discovering one’s personality
- Introducing the relationship between personalities and the different types of career
- Ways to seek your ideal career
- Career prospect: occupational psychologist( identifying people’s ability and potential in career counseling)
- Pathway of becoming an occupational psychologist
Day 4: Sports Psychology
- Introduction to sport psychology
- Mental skills training for performance enhancement and participation satisfaction.
- Counseling intervention for athletic motivation
- Career prospect (coach/sport psychologist): working with athletes and improving their mental and physical health especially during competition
- Pathway of becoming a sport psychologist/ sport mental coach
Day 5: Criminal Psychology
- Relationship between social status and crime
- Mindset of different types of criminals
- Effective Psychotherapy for criminals
- career prospect (criminal psychologist): providing treatment for criminals, studying criminals’ behavior and thoughts, prevention of crimes
- Pathway of becoming a criminal psychologist
