To be a Physiotherapist - Taster Programme for Physiotherapy Study

This programme will give you a glimpse of what it’s like to be a physiotherapist. You will have a chance to talk to physiotherapists and find out about related careers.

UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAMME, YOU WILL:

• Understand the role and responsibilities of physiotherapists and the importance of physiotherapy in healthcare.
• Explore the prospects and career opportunities of the physiotherapist profession.
• Understand the physiotherapy degrees in different countries and the pathways and practicalities of practicing physiotherapy in Hong Kong.
• To provide students with practical experience in basic physiotherapy techniques.

Day 1: Introduction to Physiotherapy

• What is Physiotherapy? Physiotherapy vs Occupational Therapy
• An overview of the Hong Kong healthcare system
• Importance of Physiotherapy in Healthcare and Allied Health
• The roles and responsibility of a Physiotherapist

Day 2: Working as a Physiotherapist in Hong Kong

• Industry outlook and the career opportunities of physiotherapist in Hong Kong
• The pathway to becoming a physiotherapist in Hong Kong
• A Day of Life of a Physiotherapist –The daily workflow of a physiotherapist, the work environment, patient interaction and case sharing
• The challenges and rewards of the profession

Day 3: The Basics of Exercise Therapy – Experiential & Demo Workshop (Clinic Visit)

• Basic Physio/Physical-therapy Exercises and Techniques
• Equipment and Tools Used in Physiotherapy
• How to assist patients with examinations?
• How to conduct treatments?
• Sharing session with practicing Physiotherapists

Day 4: Pathways to becoming a physiotherapist

• Overview of physiotherapy programmes, Training, and Internship Opportunities in Hong Kong and the UK
• Pathways to Becoming a Physiotherapist in the UK and Learning Experiences
• Student Life in Hong Kong, UK and overseas studies
• How to prepare for university application and interviews

Day 5: Professional Career Opportunities in Physiotherapy

• Specialization in the Field of Physiotherapy – Manipulative Physiotherapy, Sports Physiotherapy, Neurological Physiotherapy, etc
• Becoming a Specialized Sports Physiotherapist for Exercises Injuries
• Sports Tape Workshop (Pain Management, Sports Injury)
• Conclusion and Certificate Presentation
