Workshop on Basic Data Visualization and Dashboard Design

This is the basic training of Tableau which is the most popular data visualization tool in Hong Kong. Traditionally, people prepare Excel reports for management. Excel reports are mostly filled with figures and it would not be easy for management people to get business insight from a sea of figures. Business people would like to see charts to represent certain business intelligence (BI) interactively in order to facilitate management people to make data-driven decisions. This is like investors prefer to read a Candlestick chart instead of a stock price tabular report for making stock trading decisions. Tableau is a superb tool for data visualization and visual analytics which excels Excel in many dimensions.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants are expected to:

• Grasp basic Tableau techniques for designing management reports
• Able to design dynamic charts
• Have practice data visualization on numerous business cases
