Overview
Sustainable development is a new trend and focus for many business. According to The World Commission on Environment and Development’s publication in 1987, sustainable development means “a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. The goal of sustainable development also means striking a balance between the needs of the environment, society, and economy in order to maintain a quality life standard for both present and future generations. Research also indicated that sustainability initiatives can help an organization to differentiate from competitors, enhance financial performance, seize new markets while protecting the environment.
With the growing importance of sustainability in both business and social sectors, more talents are needed to help organization success in this journey of creating shared value. Under this new trend, human resources for sure has an important part to play!”
