What is UI/UX?
Both “UI” (User Interface) and “UX” (User Experience) are important elements that must go hand in hand together in good product, software and web design. Knowledge of how to build impressive websites is in high demand in every business, as competition in the online market has never been fiercer than right now.

International Technological University (ITU)’s Digital Arts Department and The Hong Kong Management Association have jointly launched an exciting, industry-relevant UI/UX certification to fulfill this need. Students will learn online from top industry experts and have access to current trends and technological advancements to become the next generation of innovative leaders in the UI/UX world.

Module one – UI/UX: user interfaces and user experiences
This course offers students an engaging introduction and hands-on practice in the fundamental areas of human centered user experience (UX) design. Students will build a design portfolio across a range of UX/UI projects.
Module two – Dynamic UX
This course will explore how web technologies are making it easier for websites to become more interactive and behave more like native applications. Students will learn to identify and improve static web designs through the use of dynamic web content, make web pages more interactive without sacrificing usability or accessibility, learn how to deal with touch-screen devices, and learn to give on-screen feedback effectively.

JAKE WACHTEL
Department Chair, Digital Arts and Production, ITU
Mr Jake Wachtel’s media and entertainment industry experience includes both the creative and production side of content creation. Wachtel started as an award-winning international journalist, earning the Foreign News Desk Award and recognition from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Jake has worked as a producer, writer, and director on a range of projects for numerous media companies including NBCUniversal, DreamWorksTV, and TBS. Jake headed the digital division at Innovative Artists Talent and Literary Agency and currently serves as the Department Chair of Digital Arts and Production at ITU. Jake’s work as a Hollywood executive and thought leader in Silicon Valley positions him at the nexus of entertainment and technology.

STACEY HOUGHTON
Digital Arts, ITU
Ms Stacey Houghton is a seasoned UX professional with extensive experience in Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Visual Design and UI Development/Design. Her keen design sense and innovative spirit inspires her to create engaging, intuitive and visually stunning designs. Within her diverse portfolio, she showcases her ability to generate effective web solutions for a variety of clients.

GORKCE KASIKCI
Digital Arts, ITU
Ms Gokce Kasikci received her MFA in multimedia from San Diego State University, USA. She has worked in video, photography, digital media, art installations, and higher education with biomedical, MEMS, architecture firms, and small businesses. She had one-person shows and multi-artist shows in the USA and overseas. Gokce taught art classes at San Diego State University, Packaging and Design at the Art Institute before teaching digital design at ITU.

Admissions
Fee
Hk$18,000
Students should have their laptop ready for each class, including access to software such as Photoshop CC/Illustrator CC or Sketch. Students’ computers also need to be able to support these materials. In addition, students should also have their own access to prototyping platform InVision App throughout the entire course.
Early Bird Discount
HK$1000 less if registered and paid by 30 November 2020
Award of certificate
Students who successfully fulfilled the course requirements will receive a certificate jointly awarded by The Hong Kong Management Association and International Technological University, USA.
Placement
Students who achieve outstanding performance in the course may be given a real world placement in the USA. ITU will recommend a placement project in the USA, if appropriate.
