Overview

The COVID pandemic has fueled growth in pharmaceutical, medical and biotechnology businesses around the globe with investors, research institutions and venture capitals pouring in large sums of investment developing new medical and healthcare products. With new products and businesses venturing into the markets, new legal and regulatory issues arise.

In this workshop, we will be examining a wide range of legal issues in life sciences and biotech industry, such as, patent issues, research & development (R&D) contracts, “biotech, drug registration & environment” related regulations, clinical trial legal issues, and intellectual property (IP) assignment & licensing issues.

Apart from the substantive legal matters related to life sciences and biotech, the workshop will provide an overview of the common legal issues encountered by “start-ups” in the life sciences & biotech sector, such as, investment funding, collaborative R&D, vendor risk assessment, corporate governance matters.
