The green and sustainability issues have been gaining much attention in the international community. As a leading financial center in Asia, Hong Kong is committed to promoting green and sustainable financial development. In order to groom local talents, the Government has launched the “Pilot Green and Sustainable Finance Capacity Building Support Scheme” to enhance the capacity building for local practitioners as well as prospective practitioners. The Scheme is administered by the Centre for Green and Sustainable Finance, in which The Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group (CASG) was co-initiated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) in May 2020.
Seven programmes offered by the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) are now eligible under the Scheme, including diploma and certificate courses as well as workshops. The programmes cover a wide spectrum of ESG topics, from international trend of sustainable development and regulations to green financial instruments and carbon asset management, in order to enhance the business competitiveness in the ever-changing landscape of ESG Governance and Net Zero Economy.
- Advanced Executive Diploma in ESG Strategy and Innovation for Net-Zero
- Executive Diploma in Sustainability, ESG and Green Finance
- Advanced Executive Certificate in Carbon Trading and Green Finance
- Executive Certificate in ESG Planning (Certified ESG Planner CEP®)
- Professional Certificate Programme in Global ESG Investing
- Workshop on ESG and Green Finance for Leadership – Why, What, How
- Workshop on Sustainability & ESG – Opportunities for Insurance and Wealth Management Professionals
Eligible applicants may apply for reimbursement of relevant fees upon successful completion of eligible programmes. Applicants may claim up to 80% of the reimbursable fees of an eligible programme, subject to a ceiling of HK$10,000. Full-time student may claim up to 100% of the reimbursable fees. In addition, applicants must enrol in an eligible programme after it is registered under the Scheme, and must have successfully completed the the programme on or before 12 December 2025.
