In recent years, governments, policy makers, regulators, and the financial industry have put significant efforts to promote legal compliance, a fair-dealing cultures and practices in the financial sector. This has increase in the demand for people with knowledge in both law and finance.
The MSc Law, Regulation and the International Financial System (MSc) programme aims at providing a thorough understanding of the issues associated with the financial services sector. The programme will explore relevant knowledge related to business operations, regulations, and international best practice in this area. It will also develop in-depth learning through a major independent research project in a specialist area.
Upon completion, the students will be sufficiently equipped with the specialist knowledge for legal and finance industry.

Details
The MSc programme contains 6 modules of which the first five are taught modules and the final one is Dissertation (15,000 words). The programme can be completed in 1 year.
There are two intakes each year: May and September. Core modules for students of both intakes include Research Methods in Law, Banking and Finance Law, and International Financial System. Non-law background students are required to study Common Law Foundations, while non-finance background students are required to study Introduction to Finance. In addition, students in the May intake will study Corporate Law, whereas those in the September intake will study Intellectual Property Law instead.
Regarding the Dissertation, students will receive guidance and advices from supervisors assigned to them.

Entry Qualifications
Applicants should hold:
- An undergraduate 2:2 degree or equivalent in law, finance, business or a related discipline;
- Applicants without a degree that have professional qualifications or relevant professional experience may be considered.
English Requirements
- Applicants educated in a language other than English should have an IELTS overall band score of 6.5 or equivalent.
