Skills come by doing, not viewing. So here you’ll learn and try all you need to know
to successfully run projects in just SIX modules, plus a bonus exercise on the last day to apply everything you learn.

Who Should Attend

If you are new to managing and leading projects or you are a member of a project team, then this course is for you. It is a practical three-day course covering the essential aspects you need to know to initiate a project, plan correctly and execute effectively to produce on-time and on-budget delivery to the satisfaction of your senior management or customers.

Course Structure

The first two days of our Project Management Launchpad course gives you all the skills that you and your team need to get cracking together on projects back at work. But on the third day you’ll plan, run a project to produce a real deliverable, so you’ll have actual hands-on experience too.

SUBJECT DESCRIPTION
What Projects are all About The lifecycle of a project, and how to plan and run it. Methods such as Waterfall, Critical Path & Chain, Agile and Scrum, DevOps, Kanban etc. Scope, Cost, Time, Quality and other constraints. The Project Charter and the Scope Statement. Exercise 1 – Outlining your Project
Objectives, Deliverables and Stakeholders How your organisation affects your ability to manage a project. Who your stakeholders are. How to map, plan, handle and balance stakeholder interests. Fixing your project objectives and the mechanism that starts any project. Exercise 2 – The Lay of the Land
Predictive Project Planning and Management Planning the project to measure baselines and other vital measures. Cost & time estimation, tools to analyse project work, forecasting, change control. Analysis of dependencies and the production of a project schedule. Exercise 3 – From the Big Picture to the Details
Agile Project Planning and Management Roles of product owner and scrum master. Producing and sequencing product backlog. Facilitated meetings, relative estimation. The Sprint backlog, Sprints, reviews, getting to MVP and MBI. Exercise 4 – Planning your Sub-Projects
Keeping it Stable Definition of risk. Qualitative & quantitative analysis, risk matrices, registers, mitigation and contingency. Producing a viable communications plan to incorporate stakeholders needs. Project communication skills. Kick-off and other meetings. Exercise 5 – Handling Risks and Issues
Leading and Communicating Producing a communications plan. What motivates people. Techniques to lead and motivate your project team, the group and other stakeholders. Exercise 6 – Presenting your Business Case
The Full Day Project Introduction and briefing for an urgent project – with a real deliverable – which must be completed and presented by the teams by the end of the day. Whole Day Exercise – The Urgent Project

Colin Millward

Colin has a 35-year corporate background implementing technology and financial systems projects in the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. He founded his company Knight Griffin Pte. Ltd. in Singapore in 2003, and through his brand RulesReimagined, Colin has provided top-level consulting and training in the past twenty years to bring a third-dimension and an external viewpoint to corporations and governments. He holds an MBA, PMP, CRP and is an accredited principal mediator.
