Overview

The Diploma in Professional Accounting Studies (DDAS) offered by The Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) is specially designed for those who wish to enter in the accounting and finance industries at para-professional level. This programme provide a good opportunity for candidates to build up solid accountancy knowledge and techniques.

DDAS aims at developing students’ fundamental accountancy knowledge and skills. It is designed for those who have not studied accountancy before.

Who should apply?

  • Individuals who have an interest in accounting, finance, and related fields and want to develop their professional competencies in these areas.
  • Graduates from non-accounting or non-finance disciplines who wish to acquire foundational knowledge and skills in accounting.
  • Individuals who are already working in accounting support roles and want to formalize their skills and knowledge through a recognized diploma programme.

Articulation Path

Graduates of DDAS programme can articulate to the Advanced Diploma in Professional Accounting Studies (DADAS) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Accounting and Finance (BAAF) offered by University of Greenwich, UK.

Programme Structure

The DDAS programme is a part-time evening programme and can be completed in 9 months. The Programme consists of 4 modules and the structure is listed as follows:

Module Exemption

Exemption may be offered to applicants based on prior learning in relevant diploma or academic qualification. Applicants can apply for exemptions for up to 2 modules of the programme before the programme commences. Application will not be accepted after the programme has commenced. Please refer to the application form for more details. It is subject to the final decision of the Association.

Satisfactory Completion of a Module

Students are required to meet the minimum required attendance rate of 70% of each module in the programme. Students must obtain an aggregate of 50% at least in every assessment attempted.

Award

Students who satisfied all the requirements and has completed all modules will be awarded the Diploma in Professional Accounting Studies.

Fee

Application Fee: HK$250 (Waived)

HKMA member: HK$10,800 (HK$2,700 x 4 modules)
Non-member: HK$13,200 (HK$3,300 x 4 modules)


Entry Requirements

  1. Obtained Level 2 or above in 5 HKDSE subjects including English and Mathematics; or
  2. Obtained grade E or above in 5 HKCEE subject including English (Syllabus B) and Mathematics; or
  3. Obtained grade E or above in 2 AS Level and/or 1 A Level subject including English; or
  4. Completed Yijin Diploma, business-related Foundation Diploma, Pre-Associate Degree; or
  5. Equivalent qualifications.

No relevant work experience is required.
